The SmoothStepper is a USB motion control device for Mach3.  Data is sent to the device where it is interpreted and buffered.  Data from the buffer is precisely pulsed on its Parallel Port compatible outputs.  If you have used the Parallel Port driver of Mach3, switching to the SmoothStepper is a piece of cake.  While 100% compatibility is not guaranteed, the amount of compatibility is very high.  You should be able to use your parallel port compatible breakout board directly with the SmoothStepper, due to the pinout of its ports.  There are three ports.  Port 1 and Port 2 are "parallel port" compatible, and Port 3 is an additional 6 inputs, composed as a set of removable Phoenix Contact screw terminals.  Port 2 may be configured as a bidirectional port, allowing 8 of the I/Os to be used as inputs or outputs, but not a combination.  The total amount of I/O is therefore 24 outputs and 16 inputs, OR 16 outputs and 24 inputs.

The price of the SmoothStepper is $155 USD.
